Privacy policy

GRAPPES LLC · Updated October 5, 2026

This policy explains how Fakties, operated by GRAPPES LLC, handles information when you use our app and website.

Information we handle

Content you submit: links, text, questions, photos, videos, audio, documents, file names and relevant file metadata. Processing may produce transcripts, extracted claims, media frames, evidence, sources and reports. Submitted material can contain personal information about you or other people.

Your use of the app: check history, saved checks, followed claims, evidence updates, feedback and reports of incorrect results. We use an installation or account identifier to associate this information with you. Display preferences, unfinished check drafts, incoming shared drafts and pending purchase identifiers are also stored on your device. Unfinished text drafts expire after 24 hours and are cleared when you sign out or clear your checks.

Account information: if you sign in, your email address, authentication identifiers and session information. If purchases are available and you make one, we receive transaction identifiers, product and subscription status, and credit usage. We do not receive your full payment-card details.

Technical information: our service and hosting providers receive connection information such as IP addresses. The app uses a keyed representation of your network address in its usage records to help prevent abuse. If you enable push notifications, we store a device notification token, preferences and delivery records.

Product usage: the app records how its features are used, such as which screens are opened, whether a check started or finished, whether a result was shared or marked helpful, and the app version and platform. On the website we also save first-visit campaign labels (source, medium, campaign and creative) on your device and with your session, so we can measure which links bring people to Fakties and whether they use it. Confirmed payments and refunds are recorded by our server; test payments are kept separate in reports. These records are linked to your session or account, are sent to Fakties servers, are used to improve the app and measure campaign performance, and are deleted with your account. We do not sell them, send them to ad networks, use them to target ads or track you across other apps.

How we use information

We process your information to read submitted content, check claims, inspect media when requested, show evidence and results, save your history, and recheck claims you choose to follow. We also use it to provide sign-in, manage credits and purchases, deliver notifications you enable, respond to support requests, and prevent misuse.

You choose what to submit. Do not include passwords, payment details or other unnecessary sensitive information. Only submit content you are entitled to share. Our app does not include advertising or cross-app advertising tracking, and we do not sell your submitted content or account information.

Services that process information

Before your first check or upload, we ask you to allow processing by the services listed below. We store the version, time and choice on your account so the same choice applies on your other devices. You can withdraw permission in Settings → Privacy & data. This stops further processing and scheduled rechecks; it cannot recall content already sent. You can still browse, read shared findings, and access or delete your saved history without granting permission.

OpenAI processes selected content to extract claims, read documents or images, transcribe recordings, research evidence and assess claims. A check can send text, images, video frames or audio to the relevant processing service. Provider processing is not entirely on your device.

Google Fact Check Tools receives claim searches. PubMed and Crossref receive relevant literature queries. Research can retrieve public source pages. Search terms may include information from your submission.

Sightengine processes selected photos or sampled video frames when an enabled media-inspection feature uses its AI-generation or face-manipulation detection. This does not establish that media is authentic, and the app does not offer reliable synthetic-voice or comprehensive editing detection.

Supabase handles email authentication. Resend receives the destination email and sign-in message. Incoming support mail is forwarded by Cloudflare to our support inbox hosted by Google; Resend delivers replies. If store purchases are available, Apple or Google processes the payment and RevenueCat helps verify purchase and subscription status using your account identifier and transaction information. If website payments are enabled, Stripe processes checkout, subscription management and payment verification.

If phone notifications are enabled and available, Expo and the relevant Apple or Google notification service process the device token and notification content. A notification can reveal check or claim information on your lock screen.

Railway hosts our application server and stored content. Cloudflare provides domain and email-routing services. Our infrastructure providers process technical request information. We do not add advertising tags or third-party analytics scripts to the website.

Each provider applies its own security and retention practices and may have independent legal obligations. Deleting information from our app does not automatically remove information a provider must retain. Information may be processed in the United States and other countries where we or our providers operate.

Who can see your content

Your private submissions and history are not published as a public feed. They are processed by the services needed for your requested features and may be accessed by the operator for support, security or resolving a problem. Content may also be disclosed when legally required.

Creating a share link makes a snapshot of the selected claim, conclusion, explanation, limitations, check date and source links available to anyone with that link, without signing in. Your account details, other checks and original uploaded files are not included. Recipients can forward the link or copy its contents. Turn off shared links on the finding's Share screen to withdraw access; deleting the check also removes its shared pages. Copies already made by recipients or messaging services cannot be recalled.

Shared finding pages ask search engines not to index them, but possession of the link is sufficient to view them. A shared snapshot does not change when a later check reaches a different result. Public-source research results may be reused to avoid repeating the same check; private text and uploaded files are not placed in the shared public-source cache.

Storage and deletion

Checks, uploaded files and saved results remain in our active service until you delete them or request their deletion. There is no automatic short-term deletion of all submitted content. Temporary processing files are removed after processing where supported.

Daily infrastructure backups may retain deleted information for up to six days before automatic expiration. Backups are used for disaster recovery, not normal account access. Before making a restored backup available, we must reapply deletion requests recorded after it was made.

Settings → Privacy & data → Delete my checks and uploads removes your checks, uploaded files, followed claims and associated feedback from the active service, and clears unfinished check drafts and incoming shared drafts on the device where you perform the action. It does not close your account or reset your credit allowance.

Settings → Account → Delete account removes your sign-in identity and private check data and revokes account sessions after email verification. If you cannot access the app or receive a code, contact us to request deletion. We may need to verify ownership before acting.

Credit and transaction records, identifiers used to prevent repeated free-trial claims, and operational or notification records may remain after history or account deletion for accounting, security and service integrity. These records are not a replacement copy of your check history. Provider-held records follow the provider's retention practices. Deleting the app or account does not cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription; cancel it in your store settings.

Your choices and requests

Settings → Privacy & data → Copy my data exports checks, sources, followed claims and feedback as JSON. You can stop following claims, change notification preferences, and revoke device permissions in your operating-system settings. The app receives the files you select or share with it; installing the app does not upload your entire photo library.

Contact us to request access, correction or deletion of personal information, or to raise a privacy concern. Your rights depend on where you live. We will assess your request under applicable requirements and explain if information must be retained. Please do not send passwords or sign-in codes.

If you believe a child has submitted personal information, contact us so we can investigate and address its removal.

Security and changes to this policy

We use access controls and other safeguards to protect information, but no service can guarantee complete security. Results can contain errors, and media-detection scores are not proof of authenticity. Avoid submitting unnecessary confidential material.

We will update this policy when our practices change and revise the date above. Where required, we will provide additional notice or ask for consent before a material change applies.
